Twin Robots

My heart is all aflutter since Ratalaika Games sent Family Friendly Gaming a digital download code for Twin Robots on the Playstation 4. This robotic video game can also be found on the Wii U, Personal Computer (Steam), Playstation Vita, and more. Families take control of two robots. The goal is to get both of them to the extraction point. You can get just one and finish the level as long as you freed the first robot.

What do I mean freed the first robot? At the start of each of the twenty-eight levels of Twin Robots there is one robot trapped. The other robot must find the big red button and step on it. This must be done before the ceiling comes down and crushes the trapped robot. Once this is done then the second robot is available to collect the blue tiles. Both robots technically can collect blue tiles at that point.

The way to get out of a level in Twin Robots is to release enough energy to open a door. That is in essence one hundred of whatever is being counted in Twin Robots. Robots can share energy in Twin Robots. In fact at the start of just about every single level I needed to share energy to keep one of them alive. Levels can take between one and three minutes in Twin Robots. Sometimes more if you are waiting on those really slow elevators.

The graphics in Twin Robots are decent for an indie game. The music and special effect sounds are also okay in this small platformer with some puzzle elements. Wall jumps are one of my favorite things to do in Twin Robots. In fact jumping is generally faster than walking in Twin Robots. There are plenty of hazards that can make your robot stop moving. Spikes are one of the worst in my opinion.

Twin Robots is a small download (165 megs), and is generally pretty safe for families. In fact Twin Robots can teach the concept of sharing since the robots share their energy. Twin Robots is a game with a few quirks here and there. Some jumps worked great one time and did not the next time. I could also stand at the top of a sliding slope instead of sliding down if I came at it from the top.

Twin Robots is a cute little game that tweaks the game play just enough to make it interesting. I appreciate my time with this friendly little robot game. I can see promise for sequels in the future. It was a pleasure for me to play and review Twin Robots on the Playstation 4.
