Candleman

I am overjoyed that Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Candleman on the Playstation 4. Candleman can also be found on the PC, and Xbox One. This puzzle game has some dark elements to it. I mean that literally. Our little candle can only light the way for ten seconds. He leaves wax behind each time we light the candle. I would flash the light to see the way.

Candleman is dark and that is part of what makes this game hard. We only have nine lives to completely make it through each of the levels. There are candles within the level to light in Candleman. The difficulty is all over the board in Candleman. Some levels are really easy and then all of sudden a really tough level comes along. Then some more easy levels until another really tough one.

The dark graphics make it really hard to see in Candleman. Which is the main game play mechanic. When I could see the graphics Candleman felt very indie to me. The footsteps in Candleman resonate really loudly. The music in Candleman is pleasant but really subtle. I wish the music had been louder than the footsteps personally. I loved lighting other candles in Candleman. They will eventually go out if you hang out there too long.

There are plenty of simple puzzles in Candleman. The only thing that makes the puzzles difficult in Candleman is not being able to see. I loved the walking candle character. I wish there was some easy mode where we could always stay lit and be able to see where we are going easier. I think the difficulty is there in Candleman because of how short this downloadable only game is.

I did not like Candleman. Others here at Family Friendly Gaming did enjoy playing Candleman. I think the audience for Candleman is hardcore games that enjoy a challenge. I did get better at levels after using up all of my lives. I hope to see more games like Candleman in the future. I love the idea of Candleman. I know there are others here at FFG that did like playing Candleman.
