Freaky Friday
SCORE: 85
I am thankful Disney sent Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable copy of
Freaky Friday on DVD. Please note this is the 2018 movie, and not the
2003 movie. This version of Freaky Friday is a musical. I have not seen
the 2003 version in some time to remember if it was a musical or not. I
do not think it was though. With all of these musicals Disney needs to
get with Ubisoft for another Just Dance Disney Party video game.
Let me set the table for you. This Caucasian family lost their father
five years ago. There is a mother, teenage daughter, and ten year old
boy. The teenage daughter is bright, and a bit of a slacker in higher
school. The teenage daughter likes this Asian boy, and the mother is
engaged to be married to an African American gentleman. The teenage
daughter tells her mother that she hates her.
A magical hourglass swaps the places of the mother and daughter. The
mother has to go to high school, and the daughter has to try and finish
planning the wedding. There is plenty of humor in Freaky Friday as the
two try to figure things out they have never faced before. There are
certain logistics that cause problems in Freaky Friday. Things like
where are your classes? What is your locker number? How to do a certain
kind of dance?
Each of them finds out things about themselves and the other one. The
mom finds out the teenage daughter got her belly button pierced. The
daughter finds out there was a second mortgage taken out on the house
and if this wedding does not get covered by a magazine then they could
lose the house. They also each mess things up trying to do things their
way.
SPOILER ALERT! The mom learns to stop being a control freak in Freaky
Friday. The daughter learns to respect all of the boring chores the
mother has to do. They wind up telling one another they love each other
and that fixes the swapping. The bonus content in Freaky Friday are
Bonus Track, Blooper Reel, Audition/Movie Song Mix Up. I had a good time
watching this 90 minute movie.
