Grimmwood

Something we love to do at Family Friendly Gaming is throw out ideas for better games, and a better industry. Grimmwood is a different kind of a game. This is a social multiplayer role playing game. Think of a MMORPG but where ya'll work together. There is a town and there are tons of tiles to explore around the town. We must find resources to stay alive and beef up the defenses of the town.

Everything you do in Grimmwood requires stamina points. These are very limited. The main game play mode has a twenty-four cycle to it. We are talking real time. Monsters attack every twenty-four hours. We have so little stamina that we can only play for a short bit before having to log out. There is a Blitz mode in Grimmwood that takes the twenty-four hours down to fifteen minutes. Stamina is still a problem.

The issues families will have with Grimmwood are blood, death, gore, violence, and more. Grimmwood is like retro PC games. That means Grimmwood is difficulty, frustrating, and likes to kill you. I left my guy alone in town too long without playing and he died. I do not understand why we can't play Grimmwood offline all by ourselves. Why must we always play with others?

The music in Grimmwood is really nice. The graphics are drab and depressing. The concept of keeping your village around from constantly attacking monsters is stressful at times. We also have to hope those we are playing with are doing something to help. I spent most of my time trying to find resources. When I finally found what I needed then I could craft something.

Grimmwood is really slow, unless you are playing in Blitz mode. I do not like having to come back to a game at certain intervals. My characters just die off because real life has a higher priority for me. Grimmwood is a downloadable only PC game that tries some different things. Whether that is a hit or miss with you depends on how you feel about these things. It was a miss for me.
