I am the Hero

Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for I am the Hero on the PS4, PS Vita, and Nintendo Switch. The last code was the only one redeemed for this review. This downloadable only retro video game is 342 megs in terms of size. Not very large. I am the Hero is a side scrolling 2D Final Fight like video game. There is no depth to where we pummel the same looking enemies.

The issues families will have with I am the Hero is violence, blood, language, lack of attire, enticement to lust, and more. The cut scenes in I am the Hero are pretty bloody and honestly messed up. There is a cynical nature to story told in I am the Hero. Do not expect puppy dogs and rainbows from I am the Hero. The nature of I am the Hero is darker than most games I play.

The retro graphics in I am the Hero remind me of so many other indie games. After some time they all start to blur together if you know what I mean. The rockish music in I am the Hero is interesting to listen to. I liked some of it. At times I needed it in I am the Hero to keep me awake. Why is that? Fighting the same guys over and over again got boring really quickly.

We have one life in I am the Hero with a large life bar. We can play a new game, challenges, hero's guide, extras, and options in I am the Hero. There are some interesting video game references in I am the Hero. Maybe it is just me who saw those references though. I was able to destroy a car that reminded me of the Street Fighter II bonus stage. We also had to fight a guy because we messed up the car.

If you enjoy side scrolling 2D brawlers then you might be interested in I am the Hero. Remember I am the Hero looks and sounds retro. That is the whole point of this game. The apathy of the main character was passed along to me while I was playing I am the Hero. I get the point that we have done all these things in video games before. So why even bother anymore?
