Midnight Deluxe
SCORE: 73
Midnight was an exclusive downloadable only Wii U home console video
game. It has been ported to the PS Vita, PS4, and Nintendo Switch under
the name Midnight Deluxe. It fits under what we generally call a
flinger. There are numerous physics based flingers on the app stores. In
Midnight we take our Pong ball and direct where it will be launched and
with how much force.
There were twenty-eight levels in Midnight. There are now forty-two
levels in Midnight Deluxe. You can expect it gets hard around the midway
point. Things like spikes and chain saws get into our way. One mistake
in Midnight Deluxe and you have to start the level over again. Which is
nice in some ways since we are graded on how many moves we make. Other
times that can be frustrating based on the controls.
The goal in Midnight Deluxe is to complete the levels in as few moves as
possible. Players are granted one, two, or three stars based on how they
did. I was happy to beat some levels. Especially when I had to guess
about where to launch and how hard. Going back and forth in levels can
be frustrating, since it can be hard to remember what was successful the
first time.
I learned one important thing in Midnight Deluxe. The edges of the
screen are not always walls. I flung my white little block too far a
couple of times. It wasn't pleasant. Speaking of unpleasant things, you
will have to retry certain levels over and over again. This can cause
real world anger. At least it did here at Family Friendly Gaming. Even
after watching Larryboy Angry Eyebrows.
Midnight Deluxe has great music that soothes the savage beast. It can
help you take a knee and focus on what needs to be done. I wish Midnight
Deluxe had some kind of guide that showed the last thing tried. You know
like in Angry Birds. BTW have you been watching our Angry Birds Star
Wars video series. If not click
here. I would launch too far, and then not far enough. Finding that
perfect balance was rarely easy.
At the time this review was written Midnight Deluxe is selling for
$3.99. This is a very fair price for a game like this one. Families will
get their their moneys worth out of Midnight Deluxe. I believe sequels
to this Wii U home console game would be a good idea. Especially if a
few more things are done graphically. Like that ball we roll down to a
switch should have been some different color. The price is two dollars
higher than Midnight on the Wii U.
