Out of Ammo

I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Out of Ammo on the Playstation 4 VR. Out of Ammo is an interesting game for those thirteen years old and older only. It mixes the real time strategy (RTS), and first person shooter (FPS) genres. We can oversee the battlefield in Out of Ammo in VR. We can also possess the soldiers and fight against the enemy Minecraft looking characters.

I ran into a variety of issues while playing Out of Ammo. I did not understand at first I could press a button to relocate my character to a certain location. I tried to reach certain things that sent me out of the game play area. I had real issues going down to my waist and getting clips to reload. Why was that? The character's body in Out of Ammo in invisible. We can see hands and what we are holding only. The replacement clips should have been visible.

Out of Ammo is a short game with very few levels. Out of Ammo contains blood, and violence which is something that could definitely bother families. I got a headache playing Out of Ammo as well. I wanted Out of Ammo to be so awesome. Unfortunately it turned out to be another PS4 VR disappointment. Which sadly has become the norm for PS4 VR video games.

I liked constructing defenses and defending bases in Out of Ammo. I was not so big on doing things like trying to hack a computer. Especially with the control issues. I should have been able to put the gun away and use just hands in that situation. If I am in stealth mode why would I have a gun out? That is how I felt most of the time I played Out of Ammo on PS4 VR.

I see promise in the concept behind Out of Ammo. As technology improves sequels to Out of Ammo should be much better. The blood was not really needed in my opinion. Especially with Minecraft looking soldiers. I would like to see more RTS video games in the Playstation 4 VR. Out of Ammo shows a way to make a FPS work in virtual reality. It still feels too slow to me.
