Red Dog True Blue
SCORE: 70
Red Dog True Blue is a dog movie that might bring tears to your eyes.
Red Dog True Blue starts us out with a gentleman in an office in
Australia rushing home. He takes his boys to a movie about a dog. His
boys want a dog. He is not too terribly keen on the idea. After all dogs
are smelly, make messes, and other negative things. I will not spoil the
ending of this movie for you on that plot line.
I appreciate Lionsgate sending Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable copy
of Red Dog True Blue on DVD. This movie was deeper than I expected. The
gentleman from the first paragraph explains a portion of his childhood.
His father died, and his mom went to a psychiatric ward. I am not going
to judge her for that weakness. She should have moved on and taken care
of her son in my opinion.
So what happened to this eleven year old boy? He is shipped off to the
ranch where his grandfather is living. He finds a muddy blue dog after a
storm. This pup is actually the color red when he is cleaned up. Too
late as he named him Blue. They become good mates in Red Dog True Blue.
BTW that word is used in the movie. It is an Australian slang for
friend.
The issues families can have with this not rated movie is lack of
attire, enticement to lust, magic, spirits, racism, and more. There is a
horse that was struck by lightning and thinks it is a bull. It also only
has one working eye. The dog in Red Dog True Blue thinks it is in
charge, and is shown as smarter than people in many cases. There are a
couple of scary parts in Red Dog True Blue. This movie promotes the
damaging 60s as a good thing, and attacks white people.
The grandfather in Red Dog True Blue is hilarious. There are plenty of
pretty images in Red Dog True Blue. The grandfather is a caring, strict,
and fair parent figure in Red Dog True Blue. He even spanks the boy in
one scene. That is shown off camera though. I loved some of his comments
like dogs do not sleep in the house. The ending of has some sad parts.
