Shadow of Loot Box
SCORE: 60
Have you read the book Video Game Lies? It
should be required reading of all gamers on the planet. Shadow of Loot
Box is a shining example of something referenced in the Video Game Lies
book. There are some people who actually lie and say: "Video games teach
us nothing." Shadow of Loot Box is a game with a definite and clear
message. Shadow of Loot Box stands against loot boxes and
micro-transactions.
Ratalaika Games is one of the most fascinating indie publishers out
there. They keep finding interesting developers and games that can spark
conversation. This downloadable only video game was provided to Family
Friendly Gaming on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. I played Shadow of Loot
Box on the latter. This first person shooter is also on the Xbox One.
The graphics in Shadow of Loot Box are horrible. The only worse first
person shooter I have seen was on the Atari 2600. The graphics and same
character models gave me a headache. Shadow of Loot Box makes its point
really strong. In the first level we can not jump until we collect
enough green orbs and then purchase the skill. The same thing goes for
other skills like interacting with objects.
I get the point Stately Snail is making with this 618 meg download. It
is obnoxious. As a game goes Shadow of Loot Box frustrated me at every
single turn. It is easy to die and there is little ammo compared to the
amount of enemies we have to blow away. Violence and blood are part of
Shadow of Loot Box. I did not have much fun playing Shadow of Loot Box.
The music in Shadow of Loot Box is a bit on the quiet side. The special
effect sounds are fantastic in Shadow of Loot Box. When I started
playing Shadow of Loot Box I hoped it would be something like Dungeon
Hack. Which is one of the better first person video games from the past
in my opinion. Shadow of Loot Box is not my kind of video game. I
applaud the developer for making a statement about the evils of too many
larger game developers.
