Shoppe Keep
SCORE: 65
Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Shoppe
Keep on the Xbox One. This game was originally released on the Personal
Computer (PC), and has been ported to the PS4 and Xbox One. Shoppe Keep
feels and looks like a VR game to me. The graphics, feel, and what we do
feels like a VR game. Plus Shoppe Keep looks like some other VR games on
the market.
Expect long loading times after downloading this 1.52 gig video game. I
found no information on a physical copy version of Shoppe Keep. I did
find there is a sequel on the PC coming in April of 2018. Shoppe Keep
has a medieval look and sound to it. The music reminds me of certain
medieval fairs I have attended in the past. Why are there medieval
fairs? I guess some people miss that era. I do not. After all the Black
Plague came from that era.
Shoppe Keep is an indie game. Once you see the graphics you will agree
with me on that. The controls on the Xbox One are very touchy. Move up
too much and there is the ceiling. Move down the same and there is the
floor. Thankfully there is some customization to the controls. Sadly
they did not help enough for my flavor. The tutorial instructions are
written in a tiny little font. My eye doctor tests me with larger
letters and I wind up with 20/20 vision.
I found some of the controls in Shoppe Keep to be confusing. I figured
out how to get tables in the store. I even found out about going to the
trash can to get items to sell. Can you imagine they did not fly off the
shelves? I found out about picking prices. Be careful there. If you
price things too high then people will try and steal them from you. That
means you better attack them. Shoppe Keep has violence, blood (which can
be turned off), bad language, and more in it.
The options in Shoppe Keep are Tutorial, Options, Play Game, Controller
Scheme, Customize, and Statistics. I ran into issues with ordering items
for my store in Shoppe Keep. This downloadable only game gave me a
message about ordering by pressing the action button. I pressed every
button and nothing happened. I ran into issues like that here and there
in Shoppe Keep.
I love the idea of Shoppe Keep. Running a store and selling to
adventurers is really cool. Hiring bots to help run the store is cool
too. Shoppe Keep needs a graphical upgrade, and a better explanation of
what to do. I see promise and potential in Shoppe Keep. I suspect the
sequel will address many of the issues in the first game. If you like to
figure out how to do things and want to run a medieval shop then check
out Shoppe Keep.
