Skypeace

Sonic Powered Co emailed Family Friendly Gaming a digital download code for Skypeace on the Nintendo Switch. I knew nothing about Skypeace. I just knew that Sonic Powered Co has a good name in terms of video games for families. Skypeace is like a side scrolling 2D shooter without the shooting. We have a nice young lady who is hover board surfing through the sky. She collects coins and avoids a variety of robotic foes.

We can get going really fast thanks to slipstreams in Skypeace. If we go through one of them we can knock a few of the robots out of the sky. We can also collect a power up that knocks out all the enemies, and collects all the coins. Players have multiple hearts in Skypeace. It is possible to lose all of your hearts and lose a level. Skypeace is more of a casual game and can be considered easy by some.

Our hover board girl is in the middle space of a three by three grid. We can move her forward, and backward on the same row. We can also move toward any of the three spaces above our aerial character. The same goes for the three spaces below. This is important to avoid flying into something and losing a heart. There are tons of coins to collect in Skypeace.

Skypeace reminds me of old arcade games. We work on getting a high score in each of the levels. The music in Skypeace is upbeat, pleasant, nice, cool, and fun. I liked listening to the music in Skypeace. The more coins and items you collect the higher your score can be. Skypeace includes a combo system as well. I had fun playing Skypeace on the Nintendo Switch.

The background graphics look great in Skypeace. The characters in Skypeace look very indie. It would have been great if the characters matched the backgrounds in terms of graphical prowess. I could get going really fast in Skypeace thanks to the slip streams. At times I learned to miss them so I could avoid running into things. The speed became too much for me at times. I would like to see more games like Skypeace in the future.
