The Dark Tower
SCORE: 65
Hopefully by now you are aware of the FFG Haul videos. The Dark Tower
is something that was shown in the first FFG Haul video. Go
here to see the FFG Haul videos. It took us ninety-five minutes to
watch The Dark Tower on Blu-ray. I actually liked this movie more than I
thought I would. I will warn you that The Dark Tower has some extremely
controversial, and highly divisive things in it.
I am familiar with The Dark Tower from reading some graphic novels based
on the same topic. I have not read the books. After all this is Steven
King we are talking about. I can not think of one good movie I have seen
based on one of his books. Since I know he is more into the macabre and
morbid I was a bit concerned about The Dark Tower. Thankfully the scary
moments are kept at a lower degree than I was expecting.
Holly Weird is at it again with their race change of major characters.
The Dark Tower is guilty of that offensive, and will most likely be
labeled as being racists for doing it. Personally I am sick and tired of
Holly Weird always having to change things. Why can't they stay more
true to the source material? They are so arrogant that they think they
know better. That arrogance turns my stomach. It is one of the reasons I
will not listen to these Holly Weird people on any social or political
topics.
The issues families can have with The Dark Tower are violence, bad
language, blood, magic, and more. There is this dark tower that protects
multiple different Earths. There are portals that people can use to pass
between the different Earth's. A powerful mage is trying to bring the
tower down. Why? Outside of all these Earths are demons. These demons
want to enter the Earths and kill everything.
There is high technology in The Dark Tower that is also very ancient.
Idris Elba, and Matthew McConaughey headline The Dark Tower. Idris never
felt like the right person for this character to me. Matthew McConaughey
is another story. He does a masterful job with the man in black. There
are a few cool action moments in The Dark Tower. The ending of The Dark
Tower was a bit of a shock to me. I will not spoil it for you.
The bonus content found on the Blu-ray disc of The Dark Tower is Deleted
Scenes, Last Time Around, The World Has Moved On, Stephen King
Inspirations, A Look Through the Keyhole, Blooper Reel, The Man in
Black, and The Gunslinger in Action. The bad language was not needed in
The Dark Tower. It hurts the movie. The same goes for the extremely
controversial, and highly divisive race change. The fantasy world of The
Dark Tower caught my interest.
