The Death of Superman

I remember The Death of Superman comic book when it was first released. Doomsday was a fascinating character that Superman finally found a way to hurt near the end. How did he hurt Doomsday? He hit one of the protruding bones. Sadly this movie adaption did not include that. Thankfully The Death of Superman is a better movie adaption than the other animated attempt at The Death of Superman.

The Death of Superman is also the first part in a two part movie series. The second movie will be Reign of the Supermen. I am looking forward to it personally. I hope they stay as true to form as this one did. The Death of Superman does get a few things wrong. They changed the race of Kat Grant for some unknown reason. They completely ignore the elephant in the room about it.

The issues families will have with The Death of Superman is blood, violence, gore, bad language, and more. The bad language was not needed in my opinion. It hurts a very interesting movie. The core lesson in The Death of Superman is do whatever it takes to stop an evil rampaging monster. SPOILER ALERT! It looks like Superman kills Doomsday in The Death of Superman. Which does not reflect the comic books.

It took us 81 minutes to watch The Death of Superman from start to finish. The Bonus content on the The Death of Superman disc is Death of Superman The Brawl that topped them all, two legion of superheroes cartoons, A Sneak Peek at DC Universe's Next Animated Movie: Reign of the Supermen, and more. I felt like I got our moneys worth out of The Death of Superman.

Superman realizes in The Death of Superman that he won't make it. He fights to the end saving lives and defending others. Doomsday is all about destruction. Doomsday kills whatever he comes across. The contrast between the two is quite apparent. Superman respects life and Doomsday could care less. The Death of Superman is a great reminder to all of us to protect and not destroy. These lessons are reflected in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
