The Great Wall

Here is another product you knew was being reviewed if you have been watching our FFG Haul videos. If you have not been watching those videos please go here. I was pleasantly surprised by The Great Wall. I did not know much about this movie. I knew it revolved around The Great Wall of China, and it had Matt Damon in it. Beyond that I was pretty clueless. The Great Wall has a very interesting premise. This movie is all about fantasy creatures attacking China. They are attacking because some past emperor was greedy. Although I never really understood how.

The issues families can have with The Great Wall are violence, blood, gore, bad language, false gods, evolution, and more. They really like their drums in The Great Wall. There are a lot of different colors shown in the various troops. I did not understand the bunjee diving women. Why not just drop things down on the monsters that are attacking? Boiling hot oil that can be lit on fire makes sense to me.

One of the themes in The Great Wall is trust. It is used in multiple places in this movie. Characters must learn to trust one another. There is an under current theme in The Great Wall about how powerful and destructive black powder weapons are. I will not spoil the ending for you. I will say there are things in the ending that made no sense to me. I would have liked to see some different things happen personally.

The emperor in The Great Wall is nothing like me or even Serpentor for that matter. The emperor in The Great Wall is a sniveling coward. It offends me on so many levels. How can so many people give their lives to someone who does not deserve it? Nor does he care about them. The Great Wall is very pro-China, and anti-Western world. Seeing Matt Damon attack us again does not surprise me. He has a history of that.
