Tomb Raider

Long time readers and viewers knew this review was coming. How did they know? They watched our Black Friday 2018 Haul video. To keep up with our Haul videos please go here. Tomb Raider is one of those movies I bought because I wanted to see it and I wanted to review it. We watched Tomb Raider on Blu-ray on our march to Christmas. This is a Christmas tradition our family has.

Tomb Raider reboots the franchise for the movies. Tomb Raider also borrows heavily from the video game reboot. Since that game is rated macabre and morbid I have not played it. From what I have seen and heard this Tomb Raider movie has some similarities. Alicia Vikander did an excellent job with her acting in Tomb Raider. She struggles throughout the movie and it shows. I love how she is panting for air after certain stunts. That helps make this movie feel more realistic.

The issues families will have with Tomb Raider are violence, blood, bad language, lack of attire, enticement to lust, murder, disgusting images and more. There are plenty of over the top action scenes in Tomb Raider. We all had different opinions on what she should try to do in certain situations. Like being on that plane wing on the edge of a water fall. You can decide which direction would be better.

The bonus content within Tomb Raider is a lot of look at how wonderful we are. The special features are Lara Croft Evolution of an Icon, Croft Training, Tomb Raider Uncovered, and Breaking Down the Rapids. It takes 118 minutes to watch Tomb Raider from start to finish. There are plenty of video game like moments in Tomb Raider. The bonus features show how bad the games have been.

As far as action movies go Tomb Raider is decent. The bad guy has a decent motive for doing what he is doing. We also see a glimpse of a larger evil in this universe. There are plenty of heart felt moments in Tomb Raider. I hope there is a sequel to continue this storyline. I was worried Tomb Raider would be part of the war on men. Thankfully it does not look like that is the case.
