Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
SCORE: 61
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was covered in the
December 2017 FFG Haul video. For more information please click
here. After seeing previews for this movie I was very interested to
see it. The premise is interesting. All of these nations come out into
space and add to the space station. Then after that some aliens come by
and contribute. After awhile they decide to move the space station away
from Earth.
The fantasy world and special effects make Valerian and the City of a
Thousand Planets an interesting movie to watch. The poor casting and
poor acting make Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets a miserable
experience to watch. There are a reason we label some movies in the 'B'
or 'C' category. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is not a
'AAA' title. I wish it was.
Neither Dane DeHaan or Cara Delevingne fit the roles for me. They were
too young for their characters. Their love interest storyline seemed
thrown together and did not have much weight to it. I guess since they
were in space and without gravity. The issues families can have with
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is lack of attire,
enticement to lust, violence, blood, death, bad language, explosions,
attacks on humans, and more. In fact Valerian and the City of a Thousand
Planets might be an attack on President Trump.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets does not like taking care of
our people and our own problems first. There was a battle out in space
near a backwards planet without technology. Humans were fighting some
other species. The humans won the battle and the aliens crashed down on
the planet. This ultimately destroyed life on that planet. They lived in
harmony with their world. It is interesting that Valerian and the City
of a Thousand Planets blames humans and not the other species.
Major Valerian gets possessed by the soul of a dead princess. He is
shown as generally clumsy, and incompetent. That might be part of the
war on men. The main bad guy is the military general. He murders others
to silence them. He classified the records on the planet that was
collateral damage during a battle he was in charge of. He also
represents a peaceful space station the size of a planet floating
through space.
I wanted to like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The
sub-par acting and casting did not help with that. There are some funny
moments in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. There are plenty
of cringe worthy moments as well. Everything in Valerian and the City of
a Thousand Planets was completely and totally predictable. Valerian and
the City of a Thousand Planets is just far left political correctness
preaching.
