A Wrinkle in Time
SCORE: 62
I am so glad my hubby purchased A Wrinkle in Time on DVD. I found
myself interested in this movie. I knew it had not been received well. I
can see why after watching it. A Wrinkle in Time has some big name
actors and actresses in it. There is Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon,
Mindy Kaling, Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis, and Chris Pine in A Wrinkle
in Time.
The story starts where we see a loving family. Then we are jumped four
years ahead and find out that the husband (played by Chris Pine) has
been missing. The way it impacts his daughter is dramatic. We also meet
some strange characters who are there to help. We find out that
teleportation across the universe is easily achieved in this movie.
Somehow humans can do this skill.
A Wrinkle in Time tries to show us awe and wonder while dealing with the
pain of being left behind. Ultimately A Wrinkle in Time fails on both
fronts. The woman turning into a giant leaf character is interesting.
The sage guy they went to was a bit on the odd side. Who the Misses are
was not really explained very well in A Wrinkle in Time in my opinion. I
kept trying to figure them out.
The main lesson in A Wrinkle in Time is to be positive. This movie wants
the viewer to become a warrior against the darkness. Fight against
negative things and negative thoughts. At points A Wrinkle in Time tries
to preach it, and other times it glosses over it. This is probably part
of the reason this movie was not received very well. A Wrinkle in Time
tries to do multiple things and none of them very well.
It took us one hundred and fifteen minutes to watch A Wrinkle in Time.
This movie never really captured any of our interest. Which is a shame
because a few tweaks would have made A Wrinkle in Time so much better.
As it is this movie has too many plot holes, too many mistakes, and
tries to do too much. I doubt I will watch A Wrinkle in Time again
anytime soon.
