Captain Marvel

Long time readers know I am into super hero movies. I also have an education into the comic books. I remember reading about Captain Marvel in the 80s. I was shocked and dismayed to see he died from cancer. I also know a lot of the Marvel movies have gone back to the origins on the characters. I was excited to see the original Captain Marvel in this movie. Sadly the best Captain Marvel was not included in this movie. Instead we get Carol Danvers.

If you can put aside the history of the character, this movie is actually decent. I was cringing expecting to see all kinds of attacks on men in Captain Marvel. I was worried Captain Marvel would be part of the vicious, cruel, and evil war on men. There are some anti-male moments in Captain Marvel. Thankfully they are light. Just like the bad language. There is more blood and violent content found within Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel includes a few moments of theft, as well as breaking and entering. These crimes are glossed over and not dealt with. Earth and humans are trashed in Captain Marvel. Shield plays a major role in this movie. We learn all about the Kree and Skrulls in Captain Marvel. This movie presents a very one sided opinion of that conflict. Captain Marvel teaches about the human spirit, determination and perseverance. We fall down and get back up again.

The humorous moments keep Captain Marvel light in certain situations. The setting of the 1990s in Captain Marvel is interesting indeed. It reminded me why I preferred the 80s over the 90s personally. Family Friendly Gaming was provided the Blu-ray + Digital Code version of Captain Marvel. The bonus content is Deleted Scenes, Gag Reel, Big Hero Moment, The Origin of Nick Fury, The Skrulls and the Kree, Audio Commentary, and more.

It took us 124 minutes to watch Captain Marvel. There are two little scenes in the credits of this movie. The first is more interesting than the second in my opinion because the second was expected. The disc we received had a scratch from production and stopped working in one of our Blu-ray players. Thankfully we had another player that would still play this movie without errors. Even with that problem I enjoyed this movie more than I expected to. Captain Marvel would make a nice advertiser or sponsor for Family Friendly Gaming.
