Foxyland

I like Foxyland. Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Foxyland on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS Vita. We only used the Nintendo Switch version. First person to whisper us on our Twitch channel gets the codes we did not use. Just specify which system you want. One code per person. This retro indie game has some charm to it. Which really surprised me as a reviewer.

It is so easy to get jaded by indie games in this day and age. Actually it is really easy to get jaded by video games in general nowadays. There have been so many problems and scandals that you need an encyclopedia to keep up. That is why it is so neat to find a fresh and fun indie game. We collect gems in each of the thirty-six levels of Foxyland. We can also collect cherries.

What do the gems do for us in Foxyland? The gems allow us to leave a level in Foxyland. We must collect all of them. Switches will open areas up so you might have to backtrack after hitting a switch. Cherries are used to purchase items in the store. These can slightly change the appearance of your fox character in Foxyland. This downloadable only video game contains pixel art and chiptune music.

The music in Foxyland woke me up and helped me enjoy the 2D side scrolling levels. Our love gets kidnapped by a bird in Foxyland. We are on a quest to save her. Players can only take three hits in a level and enemies will respawn after they have been vanquished. A definite old school concept that could have stayed dead and buried in my professional opinion.

Foxyland starts easy and gets progressively more difficult. I marveled at where some of the gems were hidden in Foxyland. Platforms that go away mixed with objects that want to crush you will send your fox character to the screen. Double jumping helps players get through levels in Foxyland. There are invisible walls that will stop you from exploring certain areas.
