Greatest Heavyweights

I don't think the video my dad and I did of Greatest Heavyweights will be online by the time this review is put online. We are working on a massive pile of games that have been played but not reviewed yet. Greatest Heavyweights on the Sega Genesis is a great example of this. I played my dad in Greatest Heavyweights. The main characters are the eight champions from different eras.

Greatest Heavyweights glitched on us during our video. Greatest Heavyweights also glitched visually when it was played other times. I cleaned this game with a Q-tip multiple times. It is possible the system is having problems now. Other games did not glitch out like Greatest Heavyweights though. I just know Greatest Heavyweights did not impress me very much.

There are too many glitches in Greatest Heavyweights for my tastes. I could see punches in this 2D side scrolling boxing video game go through the other boxer and not count as a hit. How is that possible? Collisions detection issues if you know what I mean. Graphically we have blood and violence in Greatest Heavyweights. Characters have a damage meter to show how beat up they are.

The game play modes of Greatest Heavyweights are Exhibition, Tournament, and Career. Two of the older members of the family can box against one another in Greatest Heavyweights. We can punch high or low in Greatest Heavyweights. There are a couple of different punches we have in Greatest Heavyweights. It can take forever to knock out certain champions in Greatest Heavyweights.

The main characters in Greatest Heavyweights are Jack Demsey, Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, and Floyd Patterson. All of them are put in their prime since they are from different eras. I did not enjoy Greatest Heavyweights very much. I would like to see some new boxing video games that are realistic though.
