Jalopy

Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Jalopy on the Xbox One. This road travel simulator can also be found on the Personal Computer. I found no information on a physical copy version of Jalopy in the United States of America. Jalopy clocks in around the one gig size for those needing to know how much space this downloadable only home console video game requires. We know space management on current video game systems can be a big problem for many families.

Jalopy has indie graphics and indie sounds. The special effect sounds did not fit for me most of the time. The rest of the time Jalopy was way too quiet. The graphics in Jalopy are a bit on the bland side. Certain color choices like light gray on white for dialogue is difficult to read at times. Talking is also a major distraction when we are trying to drive these long distances.

Players must pick a destination on the map before they can leave the garage. The tutorial can be confusing at times. Thankfully we can skip it. To me Jalopy is a road travel simulator. We need to check car parts or have the vehicle break down. I had issues lining up the cursor with items to interact with. I noticed glitches in Jalopy as well. I put the uncle in the car and he was half in the trunk and half out - also spinning around for example.

When I was driving in Jalopy my uncle was talking to me but nowhere to be seen. I looked all around and even hit one of the walls on the side of the road trying to find the uncle. Driving in Jalopy is okay. It was a little touchy in terms of those controls. The speaking sounds in Jalopy are odd. Jalopy feels like a PC game to me.

The alarm clock at the beginning of Jalopy is obnoxious. I got frustrated when Jalopy would not let me move because of some talking. Other times I did not understand the orders – that was when I could read them. I do not feel like I am the audience for Jalopy. I am not exactly sure who is though. The alcohol and tobacco are the main reasons for the thirteen and older rating. Jalopy gave me a headache.
