Spike Volleyball
SCORE: 73
I need to extend my thanks that Family Friendly Gaming was given a
digital download code for Spike Volleyball on the Xbox One. Families can
fear not since there is a physical copy version of Spike Volleyball
available on the PS4 and Xbox One in the US. Which is great news because
Spike Volleyball is an actual, real, and challenging sports video game.
Spike Volleyball impressed me with how professional it is in terms of
being a sports video game. Most volleyball games have been on the beach.
Spike Volleyball was a 6.22 gig download, so it was massive and took
forever to download. Spike Volleyball is also a very challenging video
game. At least it was at first. I had all kinds of trouble winning in
Spike Volleyball at first.
The biggest problem I had with Spike Volleyball is the controls. They
can be really confusing. There is a tutorial but there are so many
things to be done at certain times that Spike Volleyball is challenging
to learn. There is also a lag in terms of doing things. Like jumping up
to block the ball. That got me quite a few times. So I found it was
better to just wait and hit the A button for a return.
We can play as men or women in Spike Volleyball. The modes are Friendly
Match, New Career, My Team, Challenge, New Tournament, Tutorial, Online
(Ranked Matches, Challenge, Online Friendly), My Teams, Team Management,
Agents, and Options. Spike Volleyball looks pretty good, and the
announcers are great to listen to. We have to hold down 'A' to skip a
lot which was annoying.
As far as I know Spike Volleyball is the first indoor volleyball video
game. At the very least in the current generation. Spike Volleyball does
a lot to stand up to Madden, NHL, and Fifa. Which is great to see. I
would have never thought of indoor volleyball getting the same quality
attention as the major sports. It was a pleasure for me to play and
review Spike Volleyball.
