Stranger Things Season One
SCORE: 67
Everywhere I looked someone was talking
about Stranger Things and how Season Three was out on Netflix. I saw
Stranger Things Season One on sale at Target for eight dollars. I
thought I might as well check this show out. After all it was only eight
dollars. It was the Blu-ray + DVD Collectors Edition too. What I did not
realize is there are only eight episodes of this season. In essence I
paid one dollar per episode before paying the massive taxation.
Stranger Things Season One is a horror show. It starts really scary and
then tones it down until the end. There are scary moments in the other
episodes. Stranger Things Season One is so short that this feels more
like a made for television movie than an entire season of a show. There
is also blood, gore, death, bad language, lack of attire, enticement to
lust, sex outside of marriage and more. Some of that content like the
lack of attire is pretty light.
Stranger Things Season One is set in the 1980s. We run across things
like rotary phones. One of the young boys gets kidnapped by this monster
thing. His mother gets into contact with him since he is in an alternate
dimension close to ours and he can impact things like lights. We learn
about a secret military project and a girl that was held captive there.
She is pivotal to the plot likes in Stranger Things Season One.
The young girl in Stranger Things Season One with psychic powers is
called Eleven. That is all she knows about herself since it is tattooed
on her arm. She can use telekinesis to a lethal degree if she so
desires. There is a price to her powers though. Using them drains her,
and almost always causes her nose to bleed. The monster from the other
dimension is like a shark and can smell blood.
There is something about Stranger Things Season One that caught my
interest. The story telling is pretty good. The concept is one where we
keep peeling back layers of the onion to learn more as we progress
through the season. I actually enjoyed my time with Stranger Things
Season One. I plan on watching future seasons as I have the time.
