Bloodshot
SCORE: 56
I was pretty interested in seeing
Bloodshot on DVD. I am very thankful I had the money to purchase
Bloodshot in November of 2020. Bloodshot was a big let down. I was not
impressed with this movie after watching it. On the front cover of
Bloodshot it says: “Superheroes are getting an upgrade.” Bloodshot is
not even close to a superhero movie for me. I will explain more of that
in this review coming up.
Vin Diesel plays a soldier who died and is brought back to life thanks
to nanites. They can heal him instantly. He can take a full clip from a
machine gun and get right back up and take out the guy who attacked him.
He can also use a support beam for punching practice since he punches
right into the punching bag and thus destroying it. Vin Diesel goes on a
quest of revenge to kill the man who killed his wife, and then killed
him.
SPOILER ALERT! We then learn that Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) only
believes this man killed his wife and him. She is not his wife – they
broke up. He is being used as an assassin to kill different people using
the same simulated scenario. He goes off on revenge over and over again
killing all these people. He does eventually break the cycle. Here is
the problem – nothing about Bloodshot feels like a super hero to me at
all.
The issues families will have with Bloodshot are blood, violence, death,
lack of attire, enticement to lust, bad language, offensive images and
more. Bloodshot is an action adventure movie that does not feel like a
super hero to me at all. At the end of the movie we do not know what is
real. Bloodshot back story is still completely unknown in this movie.
Maybe there will be a sequel and we can find out what is actually the
truth.
It took us 109 minutes to watch Bloodshot from start to finish. There
are some outtakes, bloopers, deleted scenes, alternate ending, the cast
of Bloodshot, commentary, forgotten soldiers and more in the Special
Features section of this disc. I hope Bloodshot is a one shot film
because not even Vin Diesel could save this movie from itself. The
attempted swerves felt pretty predictable and the only interesting
aspect were the fight scenes.
