Castlestorm II
SCORE: 70
Here we are in the busy time of the year
and Castlestorm II came into Family Friendly Gaming. We were given a
digital download code for Castlestorm II on the Xbox One. This
downloadable only video game is also available on the Nintendo Switch,
PC and PS4. I played a lot of Castlestorm back in the day. I had a lot
of fun playing that game and enjoying what it brought to the industry. I
was a bit shocked when I started to play Castlestorm II.
What shocked me about Castlestorm II? The gameplay has changed
drastically in some regards. We now play a city builder to amass our
strength. Then when we get into battles it is the 2D side scrolling
battles. So the battle elements stayed the same. Zen Studios added some
content and gameplay I was not expecting. It actually makes sense and I
appreciate Castlestorm II all the more for it. It just shocked me at
first.
I found the controls are a bit harder to get used to than the first
game. Castlestorm II does let us turn the blood off which is a fantastic
option for families. I love it when video games include modes and
options that allow us to play them in a more family friendly nature and
setting. There is still violence, language, lack of attire, enticement
to lust, and some humorous content that may offend some families. We
also deal with the undead in Castlestorm II.
We can play Castlestorm II in campaign or arcade. Castlestorm II allows
for single player or local multiplayer. We can play both sides of the
campaign in Castlestorm II. Meaning we can be the hero and/or the
villain to see the story from both sides. We can choose to play as the
heroes or commanders in Castlestorm II. I loved getting to summon the
heroes in Castlestorm II since they are so powerful. There is friendly
fire in Castlestorm II.
When I think about sequels I want the franchise to grow and expand.
Castlestorm II does just that. Castlestorm II adds a lot of new things
and features that will please Castlestorm fanboys. Expect some things
that were not in the first game. Hopefully you will react positively
like I did. Castlestorm II is 3.19 gigs in term of memory size. It was a
pleasure for me to play and review Castlestorm II on the Xbox One.
