Curious Expedition
SCORE: 58
Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital
download code to Curious Expedition on the Nintendo Switch. This
downloadable only title is also available on the Playstation 4, and Xbox
One. This game felt really familiar as I played it. I looked up Curious
Expedition on the Family Friendly Gaming website and found The Curious
Expedition on the Personal Computer (PC). The was dropped for the
console release.
Curious Expedition reminds me of really old PC games my dad showed me
years ago. We have a main map, and then we get into a more zoomed in
map. We need to worry about water, food, sanity, and more in Curious
Expedition. We can also only travel so far before we need to rest. The
problem with resting is wild animals can come up after. Fighting animals
in Curious Expedition can be a pain.
What is wrong with fighting animals in Curious Expedition? First off we
roll dice to see what we can do. Maybe we can attack, defend, or do some
other things. I wound up dying a lot in Curious Expedition because the
animals are over powered, and my weapons are really weak. I get not
hurting a gorilla with a gun, but a big cat? Come on now, One shot
should send that thing packing. Not in Curious Expedition.
Some of the issues families will have with Curious Expedition are
evolution theory religious belief, violence, blood, sacrifices to false
gods, alcohol, loss of sanity from traveling, and more. Curious
Expedition tries to be historically accurate with certain historical
figures and traveling, yet it drops the ball in things like: “In the
Year of our Lord.” God is referenced in Curious Expedition. There are
also various other religions referenced in Curious Expedition.
Visually Curious Expedition did not age well over these last four years.
The audio is okay in my book now. If you are into worldly retro
traveling titles then Curious Expedition might interest you. I will
admit Curious Expedition is not my flavor. I am not big on this game
personally. Even the easiest difficulty is hard in Curious Expedition.
Expect to die multiple times learning how to play Curious Expedition.
