Dolittle

I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a copy of Dolittle on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Download. I was curious how Robert Downey Jr. would do in this role, and with this character. After watching Dolittle I am a bit let down by his performance. I do not comprehend why he spends so much time of the movie whispering.

There are some potential pitfalls, and controversies surrounding Dolittle. Families can be offended with how anti-hunting, and anti-human Dolittle actually is. In fact Dolittle raises animals above humans in most cases. I was shocked to see such open rebellion to the system God put in place for this world. Dolittle also contains some blood, violence, and bad language. Dolittle promotes therapy for animals. Expect some crude humor too.

The good part of Dolittle is the humor and many of the voice actors. John Cena does a wonderful job in Dolittle. The duck keeps bringing the doctor celery and thinking they are a medical tool. That gag is used just the right amount in Dolittle. The Eden tree is a fascinating concept in Dolittle. Expect to see some mythical creatures in Dolittle as well. SPOILER ALERT! The dragon was a nice touch.

Speaking with the animals in Dolittle is presented in a strange way. The doctor speaks to each animal in its own language. The thing is when we are talking about linguistics it is impossible for that much language to be put into a solitary animal sound. Maybe I over think these things. How many other reviewers out there point that out?

At the end of the day even with its blemishes and flaws I found a lot to like about Dolittle. The doctor opens his heart again after getting hurt so bad so long ago. There are plenty of bonus features to keep fans of this movie engaged for a few hours. It takes one hour and forty-two minutes to watch Dolittle. It would be interesting to see this franchise continue. Not as long as Iron Man of course.
