Dread Nautical
SCORE: 65
You keep up with all of the news stories
and updated news stories Family Friendly Gaming publishes on our website
right?!? If so then you knew about Dread Nautical coming to the PC, PS4,
Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This downloadable only video game in the
United States of America clocked in around three gigs. Family Friendly
Gaming was given a code for Dread Nautical on the Nintendo Switch.
The first thing I noticed about Dread Nautical is the cruise ship. We
got ladies in bathing suits, people gambling at the casino and more in
the intro of Dread Nautical. Then things take a dark turn. The ship
somehow goes to a real of darkness, despair, and dread. From there we
get to pick one of four characters each with a different backstory.
Which one will you choose? The loading times in Dread Nautical are a bit
on the long side for my tastes.
Moving around in Dread Nautical is pretty simple. We move around by
moving the cursor to where we want to go. This is very handy in
determining if we can search a spot for certain gear. Dread Nautical
starts us day one on deck one, then on day two we go to deck two, and so
on. We pick up scraps, food, and runes. Food is used to feed the
survivors including our main playable character. Scraps and runes are
used to fix and improve our gear.
Graphically Dread Nautical is nothing to call home about. The characters
have lumps for hands with no fingers. I think I might have seen a thumb
here and there. The sounds are nice albeit a bit on the creepy side. We
are very limited in terms of gear we can take with us on any given day.
Weapons break, and characters need healing items. On the lowest
difficulty setting (Normal) Dread Nautical gets challenging very
quickly.
There is talk of souls in this horror SRPG video game. We are only
allowed so many actions in each turn. Then the enemies will take their
turn. Do not expect to one shot enemies very often in Dread Nautical.
Even when we attack them from behind with a powerful weapon. The violent
content is a bit hard to due to the darkness in Dread Nautical. Hardcore
gamers may get into Dread Nautical. I do not see Dread Nautical as a
game for families.
