Elf

I had a wonderful gentleman at my day job mention Elf to me. I found a used copy of this movie on DVD for around a dollar and purchased it. Once it was my pick on guys movie night I watched this ninety-five minute movie. I knew Will Ferrell was in Elf. I knew this movie is a comedy. I also knew to look for a certain line: “The yellow ones don’t stop.” If you have seen Elf then you know what I am referencing.

Elf has numerous hilarious moments we were laughing out loud. Buddy crawls into Santa’s bag and winds up going to the North Pole. He then gets adopted by an elf. He grows up in the North Pole and does not realize he is not an elf. SPOILER ALERT! Buddy finds out he has a father who is in New York City. He takes a trip to see his father. His father has no idea he has this son which leads to some funny moments.

Buddy does not understand how things work in the real world. The toilets are huge in the real world. People can be mean. The cool thing about Buddy’s attitude in Elf is he is happy, pleasant, encouraging, and helpful. He does not comprehend things like sarcasm. The whole scene with the midget is hilarious. Especially when we consider Buddy does not comprehend things like threats.

I really enjoyed watching Elf. There are all kinds of bonus features and content on the discs of Elf. We got the wide and regular screen version. There is also DVD-ROM content on the Elf discs. I would love to see sequels to Elf in the near future. The warm hearted nature to Elf is so neat to see. The Christmas nature of Elf is obviously apparent. The Santa nature of Elf will bother some families. I prefer Christmas movies that acknowledge Jesus Christ.

There is some humor in Elf that might bother some families. I personally found almost all of Elf very enjoyable. Everyone here at Family Friendly Gaming enjoyed Elf on DVD. I found Elf to be cleaner than a lot of movies I have seen. Which is cool. I think most families will enjoy Elf even though it is a throw away comedy.
