I am so thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Ember on the Nintendo Switch. This old school role playing game reminds me of games like Baldur’s Gate and Ultimate Online. Ember is an offline game though. I just love running through a forest and coming across all kinds of animals I can hunt if I so choose. Ember also lets players loot the corpses of what they just killed.

Ember is only for family members thirteen years and older. As an adult I found quite a few interesting things in this downloadable only video game clocking in just under four gigs. The areas are huge in Ember. There are over seventy quests, sixty-five combat skills, and more in Ember. Old school PC RPG gamers should get into Ember, and appreciate the over thirty hours of game play.

The issues families will have with Ember are violence, blood, magic, promotes religious beliefs of false gods and goddesses, potentially offensive humor, and more. We get to choose a lot of things in Ember. Say for example some thieves come up and threaten us. We can talk our way out of it. Or we can provoke the situation to try and get into a fight. I love how Ember lets players decide how to approach different situations.

Ember looks decent and sounds pretty good. I love the parts of Ember that are voice acted. I can tell N-Fusion Interactive put some thought and effort into this fantasy world. The mystery of this world slowly reveals itself to the player. Selling off items we collect and buying better armor is an essential part of this game. I loved getting to sleep for eight hours on that bedroll. Ember has an arrow on the map screen showing where to go next.

The visual style in Ember is my personal favorite when it comes to role playing games like this one. The large areas populated with all kinds of animals reminded me of Ultimate Online. Our leveling up is a bit on the limited side in my opinion. Areas look different in day and night cycles. There are a variety of text choices when talking to NPCs. I enjoyed my time with Ember. I wish some of the bad content had been left out. I also wish this game were in the physical copy format.
