Golf Zero

Golf Zero is a downloadable only video game on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital downloadable code for Golf Zero on the Nintendo Switch. The download size of Golf Zero is thirty-six megs. Golf Zero is very small memory usage for having over eight levels. What do we do in Golf Zero. We hit the golf ball into the hole. Sounds really simple and easy right?

Golf Zero is an indie video game which means there is some cool twist to it. Golf Zero is not so much a golf video game as it is a 2D side scrolling action adventure video game. Are you confused yet? I was at first too. We jump, wall climb, and more while we play Golf Zero. The screens do not really scroll which is fine with me. Once we start to hit the ball we have a timer and can rotate the line as to where we will swing the ball.

There are some cool, interesting, and neat game play mechanics in Golf Zero. Like what? We can jump, turn around and hit the ball in the opposite direction if the hole is on a platform above us. We can fall and time it to hit the ball at the right time to try and get it in the hole. There is a flag that shows you in Golf Zero where to aim for. The ball will roll usually and many of the holes are in the bottom of valleys.

Golf Zero looks retro and the music is cool to listen to. I was not convinced concerning Golf Zero at first. Once I got into it I found this is a fun little indie title. The controls took a bit to get used to for me. I went back and read the tutorial a second time and then certain aspects of Golf Zero made more sense to me. I could see some cool things that could be done with this concept in sequels. Golf Zero snuck up on me in a way I was not expecting.
