Gun Crazy

Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Gun Crazy on the Nintendo Switch. This sixty-six meg download reminds me of the Mega Man franchise. We run and gun through these levels and fight bosses. We fight multiple bosses in the four levels within Gun Crazy. This downloadable only video game can be found on the Playstation Vita, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Visually Gun Crazy looks like something somewhere between the 16-bit and 32-bit eras. The audio is pretty solid and clear. The music pumped me up to go blow away all of these robots and creatures that got in my way. We can shoot the gun in front of us, above us, behind us, and at a forty-five degree angle in front and behind. There are limited powerups we can find that help us get a more powerful weapon. I wish those power ups lasted longer.

The main character in Gun Crazy is a female. She has a lack of attire issue, and enticement to lust, on top of the violence issue. Every time she loses all of hearts she screams. It is one of the more annoying sounds in the video game realm. Gun Crazy has numerous continues. Gun Crazy is still a difficult video game. Since there are only four levels expect Gun Crazy to get difficult pretty quickly. I had to use continues in the first level.

I did not notice any cheap hits in Gun Crazy. I also found we can run forward in most of the 2D side scrolling levels shooting and make it through without getting hit. We do not need to blow up all of the enemies in Gun Crazy. The more we destroy the more coins we earn. The coins give us a higher score in Gun Crazy. I stopped paying attention to high scores decades ago personally. You might like to brag about a high score.

Gun Crazy is like a lot of indie games nowadays. We get some interesting gameplay that is also lagging in some area. For Gun Crazy the lag is the length of the game. Gun Crazy compensates for that by being difficult. I think if Gun Crazy had been developed a bit longer with more content and a better difficulty curve it could have been something special.
