Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
SCORE: 60
We recently had a movie night where we
watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on DVD. Viewers of the
FFG Haul live streams and videos are well aware of the fact that I
received the entire Harry Potter movie collection as a birthday gift.
This is the second movie in the series and we are taking our time
getting through this eight movie collection. Thus far Harry Potter has
not impressed me. Not one bit.
The issues families will have with Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets is violence, magic, ghosts, curses, lies, breaking the rules,
hatred of authority and more. There is a new mystery to solve at
Hogwarts for the second year of Harry Potter’s wizardry training. We
come across a giant beast that must be vanquished as well. People and
animals are being turned to stone in Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets. Who did it?
There are humorous moments within Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets. We had numerous laugh out loud moments while watching Harry
Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. There are also some scary moments in
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as well. It seemed to me that
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets followed much of the same themes
and formula as the first movie. Watching the movies back to back allowed
me to see this where people waiting a year or more would not see.
It took us 161 minutes to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
from start to finish. It never really felt long or drawn out though.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets plots along with things telling
the story and moving it along at its own pace. We are introduced to new
magics and magical creatures in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The Phoenix is a pretty cool bird in this franchise. I am not as big on
giant spiders or giant snakes.
As a chosen one hero type Harry Potter is generally not the best,
brightest, smartest or most magical. At times I wonder how he wins at
anything. The whole pure blood versus not pure blood is a major theme in
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The movie explained some
history of the school and its origins which was extremely interesting to
me personally. I will continue working through these movies as time
allows.
