Hotshot Racing

I am extremely appreciative Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital downloadable code for Hotshot Racing on the Playstation 4. This arcade racing title reminds me of games like Outrun. Why is that? Hotshot Racing makes us make it to the next checkpoint. That means there is only so much time to get to the next spot before it is race over. Hotshot Racing is played in laps so it is not some long cross country race like Outrun.

The modes in Hotshot Racing are Time Trial, Grand Prix, Cops and Robbers, and Drive or Explode. Time Trial and Grand Prix pretty much speak for themselves. We must race with other cars or beat a certain time. Cops and Robbers has the racers as robbers running from the police. Gamers only have so much health before they lose. Drive or Explode we must keep above a certain speed or our car will explode.

Hotshot Racing looks okay and it sounds great. The 90s polygon feel is present in all of the graphics in Hotshot Racing. I loved seeing ads for other games these companies made. In fact Hotshot Racing reminds me of early Ridge Racer games in that regard. The computer controlled cars in Hotshot Racing are extremely aggressive and will knock the player around. I was not able to return the favor for some reason.

Hotshot Racing is a 4.5 gig download. I really hope Hotshot Racing matures into a physical copy version. I think the artwork would look great on a case and any kind of manual that could be included. Maybe someone will pick that up and make it happen. The controls in Hotshot Racing make sense and are easy to pick up. Hotshot Racing has that put a quarter in the machine feel to it. There are sixteen racing circuits in Hotshot Racing that include a plethora of different locales.

I had fun playing Hotshot Racing. So did everyone else here at Family Friendly Gaming. It is neat to play an arcade racing game like Hotshot Racing. I would love to see a sequel to Hotshot Racing in the future. The eight different racers have unique personalities. Their faces may not be the greatest thing to look at though. It was a pleasure for me to play and review Hotshot Racing on the Playstation 4.
