Prehistoric Dude

Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Prehistoric Dude on the Nintendo Switch. Families can also find this retro looking video game on the Playstation 4, and Xbox One. What is Prehistoric Dude all about? We go on a quest to save our lunch. The caveman dude has a nice ham and wants to eat it. This horrible, mean, nasty, hateful dinosaur steals it from our main man. How rude is that? Doesn’t the dinosaur know stealing is wrong?

Sure we are dealing with a cold blooded reptile with a small brain that is being selfish and self absorbed in Prehistoric Dude. We are given some nice music to listen to while traversing the levels in this 2D side scrolling video game. Prehistoric Dude looks and plays like a lot of indie titles that have come out in recent years. Prehistoric Dude capitalizes on the nostalgia many gamers have for a bygone era.

There are three main scenarios in Prehistoric Dude. We have a variety of different screens we can visit in each of the scenarios. We need certain items or keys to progress through to certain screens. Prehistoric Dude is described as a mini metroidvania style of video game. I can see that description fitting this downloadable only title quite well. We can throw axes at the enemies to make them go away. Be careful as there is a limit to your ammo.

There are items to collect in Prehistoric Dude as well. We need some of them to improve our skills. Being able to grab on to ledges was an early one that was extremely helpful. The swimming mechanic in Prehistoric Dude is pretty cool. I wish there were more water parts in Prehistoric Dude personally. That was fun. There are also hidden items in the grass. We walk over the grass and they pop up. I kept checking certain areas to make sure I had unearthed them all.

Prehistoric Dude is small in terms of memory size. Prehistoric Dude is only sixty-four megs. I had fun playing Prehistoric Dude on the Nintendo Switch. It would be awesome if Prehistoric Dude came in a physical copy compilation. I would love to see artwork from this game in a game manual. That is what is really missing from most indie video games in this day and age. Online manuals are not the same thing.
