Rush Rover
SCORE: 69
Family Friendly Gaming was provided a
digital download code for Rush Rover on the Nintendo Switch. This 2D
overhead arcade shooter has some amazing controls. We move around with
one stick and shoot whatever direction with the other stick. Rush Rover
can get intense in some of the levels. We can play Rush Rover in Arcade
mode or Dodge mode. I was unable to find any information on a physical
copy edition of Rush Rover in the United States of America.
Rush Rover has indie graphics that remind me of 16-bit video games. The
top down view also brings up memories of certain shooters from back in
that exact era. Rush Rover has really neat music that pumped me up to
blow away all of these robots and make it to the next level. Rush Rover
gets progressively more difficult from level to level. Robots get
stronger and require more shots to take down.
The action in Rush Rover can get pretty crazy with so many robots, and
shots going around the screen. There are barriers that can protect us
from shots. Many of those barriers can get blown away eventually if we
sit there too long. We can also shoot our way through barriers in Rush
Rover as well. Once we defeat all of the robots boxes drop to replenish
our health and more in Rush Rover. I always took the time to collect the
loot that I could.
Rush Rover is a sixty four meg download. Fans of shooters will not need
to have a lot of space open on their gaming devices to play Rush Rover.
The storyline in Rush Rover revolves around a robot revolution and
robots hacking other robots. Players control a clean mining rover trying
to clean up this mess. Rush Rover gives us a reason to play the game and
work our way through the levels and the bosses.
I normally do not like shooters. The controls in Rush Rover are so good
that I found myself running around avoiding the robots and their shots.
At the same time I was lining up my own shots easily and slowing taking
out the robots. Rush Rover taught me to get them before they get me.
Rush Rover also taught me to keep moving to avoid getting hit myself. I
personally believe Rush Rover should have been given the E10+ rating.
