Shazam

I liked Shazam. I know there are plenty of haters out there that did not like this movie. I found Shazam to be extremely funny and a more interesting DC Comics super hero movie. Billy Batson gets the power from a wizard to become a champion. An evil man who was denied that same power decades before finds a way into the cave. He frees demons related to the seven deadly sins.

The issues families can have with Shazam are violence, bad language, magic, demons, and sexual references. When a forteen year of boy gets the body of an adult he buys things and goes to places only an adult can go. What makes some of that content funny is he is supposed to be pure of heart.

There is a twist in the end of Shazam that I was not expecting. It makes perfect sense, and helps the movie progress right where it needs to. I did not see that twist coming. I will not spoil it for you though. In fact Peter even wondered if they could do that. Obviously they did in the movie. I do not know Shazam well enough in the comic books to know for certain if that happened or not. I think it might have.

The version of Shazam I purchased on Black Friday came with an entire disc of bonus features. The bonus content is An Exclusive Motion Comic Superhero Hooky, Alternate Opening, Alternate Ending, Deleted Scenes, Gag Reel, Audition Footage, On Set with Zachary Levi, and Shazam’s Backstory.

It took us 132 minutes to watch Shazam. This movie kept my interest, and I enjoyed the maturity the main character goes through. There are plenty of funny moments in Shazam that had us laughing. I hope to see more movies in this franchise in the future. The ending has a surprise I will not spoil. Technically there is another surprise in the credits. The DC Movies are getting better little by little. Shazam is proof of this.
