Thy Sword
SCORE: 56
What is this game? That one question kept
coming to me over and over again as Thy Sword frustrated me. Family
Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Thy Sword on the
Nintendo Switch. Thy Sword is also on the Playstation Vita, Playstation
4, and Xbox One. At least this version of Thy Sword. I saw references to
Thy Sword on Steam as well. I am not sure of the possible differences
between the versions.
Thy Sword is hard. Thy Sword is frustrating. Thy Sword confounded and
confused me. We hit the attack button and our sword wielding hero does a
little spinaroonie and finally attacks. The problem is he attacks so
many spaces away from where we launched the attack that I missed the
enemies most of the time. The enemies could hit me immediately and did
so quite frequently. No matter what difficulty setting my hearts went
away quickly.
Thy Sword seems to have 8-bit NES graphics and music. I usually cringe
at those graphics. I guess I am a graphics snob. I know my dad likes to
show me history of video games and it is way more interesting to him
than it is to me. I found it very easy to die in Thy Sword. Mainly
because the controls are so difficult to use. You can probably tell that
I am not a fan of Thy Sword on the Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, PS4, and
Xbox One.
Do any retro games control like Thy Sword? If you know the answer to
that question please put it up on the Family Friendly Gaming Discord
channel. I am curious to find out. Two family members can struggle
together with Thy Sword. What is with that spinning around before
attacking? Let me just attack. We can use a bow and arrow sometimes.
Sadly there are a limit to the arrows and we are back to that
frustrating sword.
Thy Sword is not my kind of a game. Thy Sword is not a game most
families will enjoy. Thy Sword is only in the digital downloadable
format. Thy Sword is for hardcore gamers who like challenging controls.
I never was able to collect all of the crystals in Thy Sword. I was
never able to take out all of the enemies either.
