Ultra Hat Dimension
SCORE: 75
Ultra Hat Dimension is an interesting
action puzzle game that caught me totally off guard. The intro anime
like movie explained what was happening. We play a young lady who loves
different hats. The problem is the hats get turned evil and start
punching everyone in the face. It makes it really hard to wear a hat
when it hits you in the face. This is a major game play component of
Ultra Hat Dimension as well.
We are in 2D overhead levels that remind me a bit of the Adventures of
Lolo video games. If we walk up to one of the hats (that actually look
more like ghosts from Pac-Man) we will get knocked back a space. The
goal of the levels in Ultra Hat Dimension is to get the key and get to
the door. We must work our way around the hats to do so. As we progress
in Ultra Hat Dimension we can also wear hats that match the ones in the
levels.
Wearing the hat that matches the hat in the level lets us walk by
safely. We can also knock these hats around the levels. That technique
is required in certain levels of Ultra Hat Dimension. If one hat hits
another hat then it will stun it for a few seconds. We must be quick
enough to get past those stunned hats before they start punching us
again. One press of a button will reset the level when we made a
mistake.
There are five floors in Ultra Hat Dimension with fifteen levels per
floor. The music in Ultra Hat Dimension is nice to listen to. The
graphics are definitely retro and look better than most 8-bit video
games I have played. The graphics in Ultra Hat Dimension are a bit on
the small side though. Even when we have the Nintendo Switch docked and
playing on the television screen. The witch in Ultra Hat Dimension is
evil and is the one that messed with the hats.
I liked Ultra Hat Dimension. I enjoyed playing it. Ultra Hat Dimension
is one of those indie games that deserves a physical copy edition. I am
thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code to
Ultra Hat Dimension on the Nintendo Switch. Families can also find Ultra
Hat Dimension on the Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The puzzle game play
mechanics in Ultra Hat Dimension work really well and it is a wonderful
idea.
