A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

I am very thankful we had the money to purchase A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood on DVD over the Black Friday 2020 Season. I actually saw this movie at the theater as part of a movie screener. These companies want to reach our audience and think by giving us one free view of the movie we will become their life long workers without pay. In fact they even tell us all the ways we can help them make money without ever being compensated ourselves.

I also remember during the screening that A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood had some interesting concepts and Tom Hanks had some issues with this role. In the credits we see the real Mr Rogers and that issue Tom Hanks had is really apparent. What is this issue I speak of? Smiling is the issue I am referencing. Tom Hanks gives little smiles, nothing like the real Mr Rogers. It sticks out for me for some reason.

The issues families can have with A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood are bad language, blood, violence, alcohol, anger, and more. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood touches upon the Mr Rogers way of dealing with feelings, hurt, and pain. There are some deep issues covered in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood like death, adultry, forgiveness, and more. I love how A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood shows Mr Rogers praying.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood shows Mr Rogers is completely human, and always being encouraging and interested in others. At times it can be confusing who is interviewing who. Why do I say that? Mr Rogers cares more about the other person in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood than himself. He is a stark difference to many of the celebrities we have today. He encouraged prayer, obedience, and finding the good in others.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood teaches us that it is okay to fail. Sometimes we need help from others. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood also shows us that there are good people doing good works. The cynical reporter in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood learns that and even heals a destroyed relationship with his father. He goes through some things in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Ultimately he learns kindness and forgiveness.

I really enjoyed watching A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood at home on DVD. It has been some time since I saw A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood in the theater. I was also able to share A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood with my wonderful wife Yolanda. She loved the trolley and little towns that were shown in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. We really need a new Mr Rogers to rise up and give the same message.
