Alf Season One
SCORE: 74
We have had the entire collection of Alf
sitting in my pile for a little bit now. I decided to watch season one
and review it first. I have plenty of other television shows to watch so
it will take some time to get back to this television show. I remember
watching Alf on television when it first aired. Alf Season One
introduces us to Alf and the Tanner family. Alf is an alien that crash
lands into their garage. He then winds up living with the family.
Alf Season One is a comedy which revolves a lot around the family
keeping him hidden. The Tanner family is afraid of what would happen to
Alf if he is discovered. Alf however gets into trouble again and again
in Alf Season One. Whether he gets in deep with the sharks and owes a
bookie six thousand dollars or he performs a séance to get a character
to move on with their life after a spouse died. Alf is constantly
costing the Tanner family a lot of money.
Lying is a huge part of Alf Season One. Characters in Alf Season One are
constantly lying to protect the secret of Alf. By the way Alf’s real
name is Gordon Shumway. He is first referred to as ALF because it stands
for Alien Life Form. Once they knew his real name it is a bit odd they
keep calling him Alf. Alf Season One warns of the dangers of nuclear
war. Alf claims his planet Melmac was destroyed due to nuclear war. Alf
even talks to President Reagan at one point in Alf Season One.
There is plenty of humor and some cool things in Alf Season One. I love
to see a family praying on a network television sitcom. There are plenty
of references to Christmas along with an episode devoted to it. Even
some people from the Bible are mentioned in Alf Season One. According to
Alf Season One Alf is 285 years old. He is seen drinking a beer in Alf
Season One. Even though he is supposedly that old he acts very immature.
There is a ton of sarcasm and put downs in Alf Season One. Kate’s
widowed mother Dorothy and Alf do not get along in Alf Season One. They
do eventually come to some mutual understanding. Their arguments are
pretty epic in Alf Season One. Social workers and psychiatrists are
shown in a good light in Alf Season One. The dangers of spying on your
neighbors is also shown in Alf Season One.
