Anodyne 2 Return to Dust
SCORE: 66
Ratalaika Games has been on an amazing
pace releasing indie games done in retro styles on the modern home
console video game machines. Anodyne 2 Return to Dust is the latest in a
long time of the style of titles. Anodyne 2 Return to Dust is part
32-bit Playstation 1 looking game, and part Gameboy Color looking video
game. The world maps is done in the 32-bit style while the game play
levels are done in what looks like a Gameboy Color video game to me.
This odd fantasy world is endangered by dust. We must shrink down and
destroy the dust. Many of the GBC looking levels involve some sort of
puzzle element to them. An example would be to time the firing of a
slime looking creature you sucked up to hit a cannon firing so the slime
is caught on fire. After the slime is on fire it will knock out the
barrier to the next screen. These are things I had to figure out while
playing Anodyne 2 Return to Dust.
I found it is possible to get stuck and utterly confused in Anodyne 2
Return to Dust. If you get stuck in Anodyne 2 Return to Dust there is no
assistance, and no help. You can try different things, die and respawn.
You can also leave and see if you can get around that screen from a
different direction. Why do I say all this? I got stuck in Anodyne 2
Return to Dust multiple times. I eventually just gave up.
Anodyne 2 Return to Dust is a weird game with stranger characters. The
humor in Anodyne 2 Return to Dust can definitely be on the odd side.
Other aspects of Anodyne 2 Return to Dust made me wonder if radical far
left political idealogy was being taught or not. I caught a reference to
a church at one point in Anodyne 2 Return to Dust. I had problems
connecting to Anodyne 2 Return to Dust.
Anodyne 2 Return to Dust lets players transform into a vehicle. There is
also a little mini map that shows places we can do interactions next.
The more I played Anodyne 2 Return to Dust the more confused I became.
At times Anodyne 2 Return to Dust gave me a headache. I am not sure if
it was some of the trippy graphics or other aspects of this extremely
weird, odd and strange fantasy world.
