Balancelot
SCORE: 65
Over the years Family Friendly Gaming
pointed out a plethora of indie titles bring one new and interesting
facet, feature, or game play mechanic to the industry. This is exactly
what happens with Balancelot on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and
Xbox One. We control a squire in Balancelot that wants to become a
knight. He is on an unicycle and has a jousting spear. Balance is
extremely important in Balancelot.
The balance controls in Balancelot are very difficult to learn. I think
I might be able to ride an unicycle and whack things with a jousting
spear better in real like than how I did controlling Balancelot. Right
trigger moves the wheel forward while the left trigger rolls us
backwards. We must work on the balance with the left stick. We can also
jump in Balancelot. If you fall forward or backward and your guy touches
the ground it is an instant death.
The music in Balancelot is fantastic. The main theme song in Balancelot
that plays a lot reminds me of a Veggie Tales song I remember hearing
years back. Balancelot has catchy music that can help families try to
enjoy this downloadable only home console video game. The indie graphics
are a style rarely used within the video game industry. The Rock of Ages
video games contain a similar style.
The knights are in a battle against demons in Balancelot. Those ugly
looking things must be disposed of by the player or this fantasy world
will fall into darkness. We attack enemies in Balancelot with our
jousting spear. The fifty levels of Balancelot contain extreme balancing
and fighting off demons at the same time. Balancelot is an one hundred
and seventy-one meg download on the Nintendo Switch.
There are so many clever things about Balancelot that I wish I liked it
more. Balancelot is not a video game for me at all. All I did with
Balancelot is struggle with the controls until I gave up. I think of
Balancelot as like a Trials video game (with one wheel instead of two)
where we actually must do action adventure things. All the while
struggling with the controls and dying over and over again. Hardcore
gamers who do not mind controls that are difficult to master may enjoy
Balancelot.
