Black Widow
SCORE: 58
I am thankful I had the money to purchase
Black Widow during Black Friday sales on DVD in 2021. I had heard that
Black Widow was a complete and total mess. My expectations were pretty
low for Black Widow. Holly Weird went away from the comic book origins
of the character and redefined Black Widow into a completely different
origin. I am baffled as to why Holly Weird constantly changes things for
no good or legitimate reason. I guess they want to alienate core fans.
The issues families will have with Black Widow are violence, blood, bad
language, stealing, revenge, attacks on men and more. Red Guardian is
one of the few characters that tries to save Black Widow from bad
acting, poor writing, and a bland tale of revenge. Black Widow does not
act like much of a hero within Black Widow. Taskmaster is supposed to be
a guy. This movie changes the gender of Taskmaster for no comprehensible
reason.
Black Widow shows us a young Natasha Romanoff with her sister Yelena and
her parents. We later find out that was a complete a total lie. They
were under cover on a mission to steal something from the United States
of America. There is a whole network of trained assassins that go out on
missions from the Red Room. The Red Room is a floating facility that
stays hidden within a cloud.
The time frame of Black Widow within the MCU is while the Avengers are
separated and the registration of super heroes identities is required.
Black Widow is hunted by the government and she is trying to murder the
head of the Red Room. The fake family is brought back together for a
portion of Black Widow. There is little danger to Black Widow in this
movie. After all we know she survives all of this to die in Avengers
Endgame.
Black Widow is way too predictable. Throughout Black Widow I knew
exactly where they were going and what was going to happen next. There
was no real suspense in Black Widow whatsoever. There are a couple of
cool fights here and there in Black Widow. I loved the part where Black
Widow was laying low out in the country. That is definitely a great way
to put that character out to pasture.
