Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue

I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a retail version of Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue on DVD. This 2-Disc special edition celebrates twenty-five years of Blue's Clues. The first disc gives us four episodes of Blue's Clues & You with host Josh. Those four episodes are Story Time with Blue, Blue's Big Imagination, Pajama Party with Blue, and Sleepy Singalong with Blue. The second disc over shadows the first in every way shape and form.

On Blue's Biggest Stories we get eight episodes with hosts Steve and Joe. In fact we get the episode where Steve leaves for college and Joe is the announced replacement. I did some research and found Joe was the second host from 2002 to 2006. The episodes on Blue's Biggest Stories are Blue's Birthday, Blue's Big Treasure Hunt, Blue's Big Pajama Party, Magenta Gets Glasses, Steve Goes to College, Blue Takes You to School, The Legend of the Blue Puppy, and Snacktime Playdate.

One of the strangest things about Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue is we see Josh recreating one of the episodes Steve did. Why was that needed? Kids can watch the original version with Steve to learn about night time and the Earth rotating around so we get day and night cycles. Not only that but it really shines the light on how Josh is not as good as Steve or even Joe for that matter. Steve and Joe did different things that kept the show fresh. Josh does the same thing ever single episode I have seen him in, and it feels too formulaic. Maybe young kids like that.

The special features on the two discs are Freeze Dance, Blue's Memory Photos, and 2 Blue's Room Shorts. I can see why Blue's Room did not do very well (ran from 2014 - 2017). Blue talks and there is no playing of Blue's Clues. How would you with Blue talking completely? I found it fascinating to see that show included in Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue. It is also done with puppets instead of animation. Kudos for trying something different. It just did not quite take.

Kids can learn a wide array of lessons in Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue. The lessons within Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue are imagination is fun, animal recognition, pattern recognition, colors, shapes, under water, space, sun, moon, Earth, numbers, letters, puzzle solving, sizes, and more. There are some corny jokes in Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue that kids may laugh at. Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue deals with a variety of issues your child may face like going to the eye doctor.

Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue is the tale of two discs for me. The classic shows are way more interesting and enjoyable to me. The new show is just not as good in my opinion. It took me 286 minutes to watch Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue from start to finish. Expect plenty of catchy songs to be sung in Blue's Clues & You Storytime with Blue. Don't blame me if your kids keep singing them and annoy you. They will eventually grow out of it.
