California Games

I am very thankful we had the money to purchase the Evercade Atari Lynx Collection 2 since it included California Games. Hopefully you were able to watch the live stream where this hand held video game was played or went to our website and watched the video on demand. California Games comes with four games. Those four games are BMX, Surfing, Halfpipe and Footbag. These are four different activities that families can enjoy.

I wonder if California Games on the Atari Lynx did that top/bottom vertical swap. It was wild that it happened to me while I played California Games. Some games within California Games are easier to play upside down than others. Footbag is pretty easy to play upside down in my opinion. BMX is a lot of more complex to play upside down since we are required to avoid so many objects.

California Games looks decent for a hand held video game from that era. We have some large character models in Footbag for instance. BMX, Surfing, and Halfpipe all look decent in California Games. The music in California Games is fun to listen to and got me in the mood to try and play these four game. The upbeat music make me think of California before it got completely ruined by radical far left propaganda and ideology.

The controls are what really perplexed me in California Games. With only two buttons to use it can be confusing and complex to control these games. The controls did not always work in California Games either. I hit a button and then nothing happened in this video game. That is extremely frustrating to a gamer. If you want to succeed in the four games within California Games then timing is essential. This goes for all four games. California Games gives families a set amount of time with each game.

All in all I like California Games. I am happy that it was ported and included in a compilation collection cartridge on the Evercade system. I hope Evercade brings in more retro hand held video games in the future. It was a real pleasure for me to play and review California Games on the Atari Lynx and Evercade. Families can have some fun with California Games. Footbag is my personal favorite in California Games. I could get a lot of kicks in.
