Cruella
SCORE: 71
While we had a free month of Disney+ we
decided to watch Cruella on one of our movie nights. It would save us
money on trying to purchase it on Black Friday. We had a feeling Cruella
would be a one time watch kind of a thing. Which makes it great for
disposable streaming services like Disney+. We were completely right
about that as well. I am glad Paul and I watched it when we did. There
are so many things wrong with Cruella.
From the animated movie the henchmen for Cruella looked a bit younger
than her. In this live action Cruella the henchmen are the same age if
not a bit older than her. They are also like a family and not as abused
as they are in the animated movie. In fact the henchmen are ready to
leave when they face abusive treatment from Cruella. Cruella also
created a coat that looks like it comes from Dalmations and admits she
will not make a coat from those dogs.
The issues families will have with Cruella are stealing, lying, running
scams, promotion of sexual deviancy, violence, murder, attempted murder,
and more. Cruella calls herself a genius multiple times. The Baronness
also calls herself a genius in Cruella. SPOILER ALERT! Cruella is the
daughter of the Baronness. We learn about that late in this movie that
lasts two hours and sixteen minutes.
There is some well known songs within Cruella. The battle between the
two fashion ladies is very interesting in Cruella. One of them has an
inside track on the other one. The arrogance of people in fashion is on
center stage within Cruella. The hateful way some of them talk to one
another is annoying at best. Dalmations are used in Cruella to murder at
least one character. The elitist nature of some characters in Cruella is
obnoxious.
Dogs have really important roles in Cruella. There is an anti-male
undertone within Cruella in multiple areas. What makes something
fashionable? Cruella acts like certain people really know their stuff
and others have no clue. Ultimately the junk they come up with does not
look fashionable to me. Very few people wear dresses that are shown in
fashion shows. So ultimately how are they deciding what the rest of us
want to wear when we don't ever wear it?
