Cyber Shadow

I saw Cyber Shadow was free on Xbox Game Pass and it came from the same publisher of Shovel Knight. I thought Cyber Shadow might be an interesting video game to check out. Cyber Shadow is a 2D side scrolling ninja video game where we slice and dice all of the monsters, creatures, and mechanical traps we can. Along the way we fight off against annoying bosses, and die quite a bit.

I understand that 8-bit ninja video games were a trend back in the day. In this age of gaming I don’t want to die over and over again thanks to insanely difficult enemies constantly coming at me. Why can they move right on through solid walls and I can’t? Why do so many of these enemies respawn so often? Why do the bosses get harder if we take out some of the little guys shooting at us?

You will either love or hate the 8-bit graphics. The same goes for the 8-bit music. Ultimately the graphics gave me a headache. I can see the developer went to a lot of work putting in all kinds of graphical effects in Cyber Shadow. The cut scenes are pretty cool and explain what is going on in this video game. There is also a little robot friend that revives us and tells us some things. The story is the most interesting thing about Cyber Shadow to me.

The violence and blood are the two main things families will have an issue with. The apocalyptic world in Cyber Shadow is so over used. We are synthetic fighting other synthetic beings. Why? I feel like Cyber Shadow is a mixture of Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, and Metroid. Influences from all of those games can easily be seen in Cyber Shadow. Nostalgic gamers may take an interest in Cyber Shadow.

I am glad I did not pay any money for Cyber Shadow. I found no information on a physical copy version of Cyber Shadow at this point in time. I hope that changes because a physical copy version of Cyber Shadow could entice even more gamers into a purchase. I did not have fun playing Cyber Shadow. I am not a fan of these kinds of games. If you are then you can enjoy the frustration.
