Die Another Day
SCORE: 60
I am finally finishing The Pierce Brosnan
Collection of 007 movies. Die Another Day finally feels like a real spy
thriller like Goldeneye was. Die Another Day also has some interesting
concepts in it. James Bond is captured in North Korea after the leader
of this base dies. SPOILER ALERT! At least we think he is dead near the
beginning of Die Another Day. His actual life status is a bit different.
Die Another Day has gene therapy where one person can be made to look
like another person. This is really strange. In fact the race of a
person can be changed in Die Another Day. This happens in the backwater
Cuba. Die Another Day promotes their health care system even though it
is really bad in reality. Holly Weird loves to plug their failed ideas
as if they are working. Nothing new there and nothing to see. After all
ignore the man behind the curtain.
The issues families will have with Die Another Day are violence, lack of
attire, enticement to lust, blood, death, bad language, sex outside of
marriage, torture and more. There is also nudity on the menu screen and
in the intro movie. These are things the 007 movies are known for. James
Bond is attacked as a womanizer and then later embraced for it. Holly
Weird can't make up their minds on that.
North Korea is the major bad guy in Die Another Day. They want to win a
war with the South and of course against the West. Icarus is an
interesting weapon. It kind of reminds me of some of the things Cobra
tried in the G.I. Joe cartoon. Icarus reflects the sun and can be used
to grow farms where it is currently dark. Icarus can also be used to
melt ice and kill people.
I was a bit baffled when James Bond was captured in Die Another Day. He
could have just jumped into that water and escaped. Instead he stood
there with no exit plan. I know for plot convenience he was captured. It
did not feel like a 007 move to me personally. There is plenty of action
in Die Another Day. The airplane fight scene was very interesting
indeed.
