Gigapocalypse

Family Friendly Gaming was provided a digital download code for Gigapocalypse on Steam. Currently Gigapocalypse is only on the PC and there are no physical copies of this game in the US. Gigapocalypse is also in Early Access. That means additional changes, tweaks, and content will be added before its final release. Each of the giant monsters (aka Kaiju) have their own lore and history. Gigapocalypse will immediately remind gamers of Rampage.

I want to explain some major differences between Gigapocalypse and Rampage. In Rampage we have so many buildings on the screen and can climb them. We needed to demolish these buildings in the limited 2D setting. We do not climb or jump in Gigapocalypse. We also move across a 2D level and destroy each of the buildings in our path. At the same time we can shoot some sort of laser beam to hit targets farther away. If you don't destroy a building your monster will stand there waiting.

Players have health points and rage points in Gigapocalypse. The health points are how much life you have left before the level will end for you. The rage points allow you to attack. I learned early on to be careful how much I spammed the attack buttons in Gigapocalypse. I was wasting my rage and then would stand there looking at a building waiting for my rage gauge to build back up again. I also learned that it takes multiple attempts in Gigapocalypse to beat a level. Which is fine because we gain points (to be spent on improving the monster and acquiring new skills), and we level up.

Some of the lore of the monsters has them being worshipped by ancient peoples. The music is rocking and the graphics look decent. There are plenty of objects in Gigapocalypse and most are destructable. The violent content is what will bothers families the most. If you enjoyed Rampage you should enjoy Gigapocalypse. I liked the time portal after the first tutorial level in Gigapocalypse. That really brings the story full circle.

I am a bit baffled as to why Gigapocalypse is not immediately coming to the consoles. I would think Gigapocalypse would fare better on the consoles than the PC platform. I also had some people ask me if I would be willing to do a sponsored live stream of Gigapocalypse. The answer is yes I would be willing to do that. We will see if that comes to pass. My door is open to it. I would like to see jumping (or limited flying) and maybe the ability to avoid buildings in Gigapocalypse. Like add a layer and let players walk on the road or background.
